RefMap — Communication & Dissemination Lead

Led communication and dissemination for a €4 million Horizon Europe project developing a digital analytics platform to optimise flight trajectories using environmental data on wind, noise, and CO₂ emissions.

RefMap was a Horizon Europe research project involving 11 partners from 8 countries, focused on developing cutting-edge digital tools for eco-friendly flight planning. The project created an analytics platform that uses environmental data — including wind patterns, noise impact, and carbon emissions — to optimise flight trajectories for both commercial aviation and emerging urban air mobility.

As Dissemination and Communication Manager, the role encompassed:

  • Managing the project website (refmap.eu) and all social media channels
  • Authoring formal project deliverables for the European Commission
  • Producing newsletters in collaboration with the design team
  • Translating highly technical advances in flight trajectory optimisation into accessible narratives
  • Writing feature articles for industry press, including the “Drone Economics” piece for Air Traffic Technology International
  • Helping build the “U-Space Wiki” glossary for the project
  • Coordinating content flows across the multinational consortium
  • Chairing monthly communication alignment meetings
  • Tracking and reporting on publications and dissemination metrics
  • Planning virtual and in-person events including the Athens clustering event and EUROCONTROL webinars

Successfully grew an engaged social media following and surpassed all project KPIs. Communication outputs and feature articles were widely praised by consortium partners.
