Symbols & Iconic Ruins Catalogue
Copy-edited and proofread all English text for this 330-page bilingual (Greek/English) catalogue for a landmark exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) in Athens, featuring 137 artists, architects, and art theorists.
The “Symbols & Iconic Ruins” exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) in Athens was a major cultural event in 2021, bringing together the work of 137 artists, architects, and art theorists. The accompanying catalogue was a substantial bilingual publication requiring meticulous editorial attention.
As lead English-language copy-editor, the role involved:
- Copy-editing and proofreading all English text throughout the 330-page catalogue
- Working with translations of variable quality, including highly technical and philosophical essays on architecture, art theory, and urban design
- Translating several pieces directly from Greek to English
- Coordinating the English-Greek translation process with multiple co-contributors
- Ensuring consistency across a large volume of diverse, specialist text
The project was delivered on schedule and received praise from the catalogue editors for the quality and thoroughness of the editorial work. The catalogue was produced in collaboration with Citylab at the University of West Attica.
