Creating a Golf Destination in the Hills of Greece

Commissioned by the New York Times to explore efforts by Temes, the developer behind the Costa Navarino resorts, to create an international golfing destination with multiple courses in the Peloponnese.

Written for the International Homes section of the New York Times, this feature examined the ambitious vision to transform the hills of Messinia in the western Peloponnese into a world-class golfing destination. The article focused on how the Temes development company was expanding its Costa Navarino resort complex with new courses designed by internationally renowned golf architects.

The reporting involved extensive interviews with local property developers, property market experts, local residents, environmental experts, and the Temes chairman. The article explored the intersection of luxury tourism development, environmental concerns, and the impact on the local property market and economy.

The piece examined how the arrival of high-end golf tourism was reshaping the real estate landscape of a traditionally agricultural region, attracting international buyers and driving new development in an area that had previously been off the radar for most foreign investors.
